Flowers in Flames is a captivating spark of musical energy that contains elements of Post-Punk, Psychedelia and Shoegaze. Hailing from Northeast Ohio, the band counts influences such as The Cure, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie and Velvet Underground, but ultimately creates music that is fresh and new.
The band’s self-titled debut album, released in 2008, contains ten original tracks mixed by the band with Todd Tobias of Guided by Voices fame, distributed by Shinto Records. It was well-received and acclaimed by publications such as The Big Takeover (NYC), Skyscraper (Chicago), Mick Mercer’s Journal, blog and his book ‘Music to Die For’ and many other media sources worldwide.
Flowers In Flames has recently released its latest studio recording, ‘Everything And Nothing’, a four-song EP on Zorch Factory Records (Paris, France) that is being distributed electronically in Europe by AFMusic (Duisburg, Germany) and has charted on the European Alternative Charts. This is Flowers In Flames’ second release following the debut album. The new material explores further sound textures whilst retaining the energy of the band’s first release.
Flowers In Flames has performed at all the major clubs in Northeast Ohio, and has opened for artists such as ex-Marilyn Manson guitarist Zim Zum’s band Pop Culture Suicide; Martin Atkins of P.I.L., Killing Joke and Pigface fame; Kevin Junior (Chamber Strings); and played WRUW’s 91.1 FM Studio-A-Rama, where Mission of Burma headlined.
